Nov 1st - Bets/Rationale

 Todays Suggested bets

I'd forgotten just how weak the Sunday markets are - even for the 'big' races.
There's little chance of getting matched on the exchanges at the moment - but I suspect I could wait most of the day, for the markets to become sufficently strong.

However, the quoted prices are fair, so provided you don't cause a surge, they should be achievable, eventually...

The recommendation remains, to take the best price in the live market, 5 mins before the off, as I would expect that to be better than most of the advised prices, below…

Matrix bets

Carlisle

3:45
Roll Again 6 units win 8/1
Sojourn 3 units win 11/4 (MP 5/2)
Debecee 1 unit win 14/1

Cork

2:46
Heaven Help Us 5 units win 7/1
Foxy Jacks 5 units win 7/1

3:20
Out Sam 5 units win 14/1
Tokyo Getaway 3 units win 5/1 (MP 5/1)

As I said in the ‘Bets’ email, the weakness of today markets, took me by surprise.
The 2 races in Ireland are Graded events (the highest class) - yet there was virtually no money available to back on the exchanges at 10:30.
The advised prices are very fair - but if it’s impossible to place bets early - and inadvisable to take BSP - then that creates a relatively narrow window of opportunity.
I doubt there’s an answer - but I’ll give it some thought…

Carlisle

I’m surprise by the weakness of Alnadam in the 1:35 - and it did make me consider suggesting him as a bet (as I think that 5/1 is a value price).
However, it’s a very hard race to assess - with most of the field, unknown quantities.
Alnadam is making his seasonal debut - so that’s a worry: Whilst the support for Baron de Midleton looks like it could be significant.

I was never going to get involved in the 2:40 (too much guesswork, again) - but seeing Black Op at 5/1 as I type, is quite tempting.

Mount Mews looks like he could be a bit of value in the 3:10 at 9/1 - but again, there’s a lot of guesswork involved.

I like Roll Again in the 3:45 - and think he’s worthy of support at 8/1.
There is some guesswork, with regard to fitness and ground - but Venetias rarely need the run - and generally go in heavy (plus he’s won in soft).
I particularly like the fact he’s only 6 - so there should be plenty of improvement left in him.
For the Matrix, I think the bet should be covered with Sojourn. The price looks tight - but he could be anything.
Whilst Debecee is also worth a tiny saver - just in case !

Cork

Ragnar Lodbrok has been backed into favouritism in the 2:15 - which is what I expected.
Young Ted may be a bit of value at around 5/1 - but I’m guessing…

I do think there’s an angle, dutching Heaven Help Us and Foxy Jacks in the 2:46.
It’s an open looking race - but they are both progressive sorts, and likely to go under the radar (to an extent) because of their connections.
The fact that both ran at last years Cheltenham festival, shows they are held in high regard.
At about 3/1 the pair, I think they are a good bet.

I have to be with Out Sam in the Cork National - for the reasons I put in the preview.
He may be 11 - but he was running really well last time (until he fell !) - and Jack Kennedy back on top, is the icing on the cake.
That said, Tokyo Getaway (and to a lesser extent, Deadheat) could be a handicap blot - and I think it is worth saving stakes on him.
